Ladylike: Modern Art Deco Style

Ladylike: Modern Art Deco Style

Happy Monday!

For today’s style inspiration, I’m bringing back the classic Art Deco style with a modern-day twist.

The Art Deco style started in the early 1920’s and lasted until right before World War II.  During that time, there was a sense of excitement and expectancy with anticipation of a future filled with promise.  The women’s liberation movement, a prosperous economy, and key improvements in technology were attributes that led to progressive modernity, luxury and leisure – all of which was a new way of life.  The fashion during that time was simply gorgeous!

I’m wearing a dramatic asymmetrical winter white cloche hat, adorned with feathers and diamonds, which I paired with a luxurious yellow cape stole wrap.  Both pieces are typical of the Art Deco style.  The cape stole wrap is usually worn over a party dress or ball gown, but for a more up to date look I kept with the same color scheme and paired it with a pencil skirt.

It just goes to show you can create a modern look with a little vintage flair.   I hope it inspires you to bring back pieces from the past and incorporate them into your wardrobe today.

Here are the outfit details.

Hat: Sylvia

Cape Stole Wrap: Bergama Fine Furs

Skirt:  JCrew Collection

Heels:  Stuart Weitzman

Have a wonderful week my Loves!

Love,
