Celebrating the 110th Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Founders’ Day with Amazing Grace Etiquette

Celebrating the 110th Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Founders’ Day with Amazing Grace Etiquette

Greetings Loves, Last Saturday, I had the absolute honor of modeling in an elegant Hat Fashion Show to celebrate the 110th Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Founders’ Day.  January 15 is officially the day that their Founders put a vision into reality and organized Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.  The fashion show was hosted by Corbett Modeling Group, which is part of Amazing Grace Etiquette based in Raleigh, NC at Brier Creek Country Club. Amazing Grace Etiquette is spearheaded by Dr. Donna Corbett, and its mission is to provide innovative etiquette education to adults and children throughout the Triangle area.  These qualities are essential to social development of youths and adults; however, often appear to have been forgotten and ignored in this century.  Dr. Corbett’s background includes twenty years of corporate experience, and over a decade of experience in etiquette education and modeling arenas.  She has embraced her calling to be a powerful force in the Triangle community! Each model graced the runway wearing the finest hats dating from 1962 to 2017 from The Mary E. Corbett Hat Collection.  Ms. Mary E. Corbett, Donna’s mother, is a woman who adores hats and has a collection of over 300!  The Hat Fashion Show is elegance at it’s best!  It’s perfect for ladies’ teas, fundraisers, birthday celebrations, or any type of event where you would like to add class and pizzazz. It was a treat to be in the presence of such a beautiful group of empowering ladies.  As a woman, vintage connoisseur and hat collector, this day was simply a dream come true! Love, The Ultimate...
On Holiday

On Holiday

Being on vacation calls for a cheery, upbeat, and bold look, which is how this sophisticated chic ensemble was born. The task of packing for vacation can sometimes be a daunting one, trying to anticipate what will be needed.  Surely it’s a great time to let your hair down, step out of the box, go for a different look, and maybe even show a little skin. 😉 I decided to create an undeniable edgy look, by pairing Trina Turk pants with a LaROK LUXE top.  I’m a sucker for Trina Turk designs and prints.  They scream fun and immediately get me into vacation mode.  The LaROK  LUXE top speaks for itself and can also be worn with jeans or a skirt.  It’s sexy without going overboard or being too revealing. Creating this type of look is stylish and comfy, making it perfect for an evening out on the town. The Heart of the Matter

The Heart of the Matter

Let’s talk about Social Good!  It’s what’s near and dear to my heart.  I believe if every last one of us in the world would adopt some of the practices of organizations and businesses that promote social good, we can change the world to be a better place.  I seem to connect better with those who have a sense of social responsibility, and are passionate about change.  By volunteering in my local community, and supporting these types of entities, I’m doing my part to make a difference.  It’s great to witness businesses and organizations either starting their business model to include more social goods in their strategy or expanding it.  That is just totally awesome! My obsession lately is the lovely handmade bangle I purchased from Em Grey of Em Grey Photography, who also happens to be my photographer, and fellow blogger friend.  Initially I had never heard of Noonday Collection, I but once Em schooled me I was impressed. Noonday Collection is a business that uses fashion to create meaningful opportunities for artisan entrepreneurs around the world.  The bangle I love so much is made in India from bamboo by artisans with special needs. Here’s the link where you can find out more about it and purchase one Noonday Collection Mesh Bangle.  How could I go wrong purchasing from such a wonderful business that incorporates fashion and social good? I implement social good by looking for causes that resonate with my personal values, and are deeply meaningful to me.  No matter how big or small, if we want to see a difference in the world, we have to...
Recap of the Nora and Nicky’s Fashion Show benefiting the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation

Recap of the Nora and Nicky’s Fashion Show benefiting the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation

My weekend was GRAND!  I attended the Nora and Nicky’s Fashion Show in downtown Raleigh, NC on Friday benefiting the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation.  Nora and Nicky’s is an upscale consignment boutique, founded in 2010, with two local stores in Raleigh.  I fell in love with this boutique a few years ago when I discovered it while looking for a high quality store to consign with.  Their philosophy reads “We believe in the power of women, community and sustainability.  We believe in “Live Local, Think Global.”  How cool is that?   Nothing makes me happier than businesses that not only care about local communities, but also care about the world. Before the fashion show I knew very little about the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation, but once I took some time to research, I knew there was no way I could miss supporting this event because of its mission.  The Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation is focused on creating a network of active, diverse, empowering and motivating emerging leaders and community-based organizations to lift up their communities and work on the issues such as poverty, food justice, hunger, and public education.  The network is then equipped to do good in the community. You can learn more here Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation. I had such a wonderful time meeting new people, shopping and seeing the fashion show.  To know it was for a wonderful benefit made it even more special!  Be sure to stop by and visit one of the Nora and Nicky’s locations.  Whether you consign or not, you will be sure to love the customer service, and find something unique. Love,...

Recappng the triFABB meet up and Southern Women’s Show

April was such a phenomenal month!  I had a golden opportunity to be a part of the Southern Women’s Show Raleigh.  If you’ve never heard of it before, it’s the huge 3 day event which showcases garments, cosmetics and beauty products.  It also focuses on apparel and fashion accessories, beauty and fragrance, confections and gift assortments, womens sports teams, dating services, fitness & equipment, gems and jewelry, gifts and handicrafts, sporting goods, toys and games industries, and more. Needless to say, I was super excited to not only attend the show for the first time, but also model in triFABB “Dressing For You!” Fashion Show, hosted by blogger friend Molly Stillman, of stillbeingmolly. The fun began with the triFABB Blogger meet up at the Jim Graham Building on the NC State Fair Grounds on the Thursday evening before the Southern Woman’s Show began.  What made this meet up so cool was it took place right beside the main fashion stage, so we had a chance to take a sneak peek of the stage as well as rehearse for the show. The delicious food such as chicken strips, pita bread, tossed salads, and refreshing beverages were provided by PDQ and Zoe’s. The swag bags were absolutely fabulous and featured all types of fancy gifts, such as a three-tiered Bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes, tons of fragrance and beauty items from Belk, a bottle of wine from Little Black Dress Wines, and all sorts of other goodies. The next three days of the Southern Women’s Show were beyond words! Have you ever been to a fashion show and loved the...
