New Awlins Style

Hello again World!I know, I know, it’s been a minute since my last blog post, and I’m REALLY, REALLY sorry for my long absence. So much has happened since the beginning of the year… some great things, and unfortunately some not so great things, but God is good and all is finally getting back to normal in my life. 🙂 One of the wonderful things I managed to do recently is go on a short US trip which has been on my bucket list forever! If you don’t already know, fashion is my forte, but I’m also somewhat of a foodie. LOL!! What better place to go indulge than New Orleans? A few weeks ago one of my best girlfriends and I decided to head to The Big Easy for a Girls Trip, and boy did we have the time of our lives. Just a fair warning ahead that this is the first of two blog posts because I simply couldn’t sum up such a great trip into one. We arrived in town on a Thursday and the weather was perfect! The Royal St. Charles Hotel greeted us with a slushy drink and small bite of traditional king cake upon arrival which was a pleasant surprise. We got very lucky when we chose the hotel because of it’s ideal location and easy access to The French Quarter. If you live in the Triangle, but haven’t heard of the local Food Truck Rodeo’s by now, you either aren’t a foodie, or must be living under a rock.  Last Saturday’s event had over 50 trucks across the State of NC come to take part in the festivities. It was my first time attending a rodeo, and the hardest decision was choosing which truck for my main meal.  After walking around to view all of my options, I decided on a truck called Dank Burrito, which is based in Morehead-City, NC.  All I can say is I’m SO glad I did.  The Teriyaki Shrimp Soft Taco’s with mushrooms, zucchini, and yum yum sauce was absolutely phenomenal!   I can see why Dank Burrito earned it’s title of 2014 Mobile Cuisine Rookie Food Truck of the Year.  Read all about that here:  News and Observer If you haven’t had a chance to check out the Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo, there’s two more opportunities to do so this year on August 10 from 3:30 pm until 9 pm and October 12 from 12:30 pm until 6 pm.   I certainly plan on attending again since there are several trucks I was dying to try but didn’t have a chance. Hopefully...
