It’s no secret how much I love mixing prints, but today I decided a different mix that’s not typically seen. I’m mad for plaid y’all! Yes I broke the fashion rules that tell you to avoid pairing plaids, but who made those rules any way? I decided to mix this larger buffalo plaid print with a smaller tartan print for an unexpected twist on this pattern. So why don’t you take the plaid trend and give it an update? I Wear What I Want and Why
How many people can truly say they wear what they want? I feel this way now, but there was a time in my life when that wasn’t always the case. When I was younger, I not only lacked the confidence to express myself through my wardrobe, but also the knowledge of my style to be able to pull outfits together. I thought being well dressed meant wearing the latest trends or name brands. As time went on I learned two things which began to slowly change how I looked at my wardrobe. The first is trends are great, but like the wind they come and go. The second is name brands are wonderful, but they don’t always guarantee style. True style is knowing who you are and being able to express yourself beyond limits. At the age I am now, my perspective with regards to how I look at getting dressed every day has completely changed. I truly believe dressing is a form of art and expressing oneself. Every day is a chance to not only be creative, but to show the world who you are. It’s not about acquiring new clothes, but more about learning what looks good on you and how to work with your wardrobe to portray your personal style. Most people don’t maximize their wardrobe, meaning they are not only wasting money, but not being the most stylish version of themselves. Monochromatic Mix-Up
Hey Lovelies, Over the past year, I’ve seen this skirt worn a million ways. Well maybe not a million, but a lot – so I decided to try something different by using a purple monochromatic color scheme. According to Wikipedia, monochromatic colors are all the colors (tints, tones, and shades) of a single hue. By using a range of contrasting tones, they can attract attention and create focus. The use of a monochromatic color also provides a strong sense of visual cohesion. To mix it up a bit, I combined textures and shapes by introducing a black and white wide striped skater skirt with iconic knitwear zig zag pumps. The result was a monochromatic ensemble with depth and dimension through the use of connotative color. See below to recreate this look. Say It With Flowers
Sometimes it’s what you say and how you say it. Have you heard the phrase, “Say it with flowers?” There’s a reason for the phrase — flowers really do help people say things! If you can’t tell, I’m screaming “I’m ready for spring!” Sorry guys I’m just not a winter person, and it seems this season has lasted forever. I’m ready to put it all behind me for more sunny days. Don’t get me wrong, I have a deep appreciation for the four seasons. After all, I wouldn’t be able to wear my cozy sweaters, luxurious scarves, or fabulous furs if it weren’t for winter, but today I just seriously needed a pick-me-up. To combat the winter blues, I decided to wear a luscious vintage floral outfit. This prized pattern provided the perfect pop of color to brighten up my day.
