Styling the Stylist

Styling the Stylist

A few weeks ago I attended a Mother’s Day Trunk Show at Peachy Keen in Cary, North Carolina to celebrate Mom’s.  If you’ve never visited this boutique, you’re in for a huge treat.  Peachy Keen is a family owned contemporary lifestyle boutique that specializes in dressing all women.  I love that they offer a diverse selection of brands, styles and prices to compliment every woman, and every woman’s shape.  There’s something for every one of all ages and sizes here.  As a personal stylist and personal shopper, it can sometimes be a challenge to find items for my clients all within one store.  I appreciate businesses that are in touch with the reality that not everyone is thin, and try as much as possible to cater to the needs of everyone. In addition to the fab clothing at Peachy Keen, the trunk show also included unique accessory pieces by Noonday Collection, which are all handmade by mothers around the world from various countries such as Peru, Rwanda, Ecuador, India, Ethiopia, and more.  What I love so much about this business is each purchase benefits underprivileged women in struggling nations, by creating jobs. Styling services were also offered during the event.  I thought it would be fun to allow myself to be styled by another personal stylist.  More often times than not, someone else will always select something different for you than what you would select for yourself.   Allowing yourself to be styled by someone else could open up a new and different look that you may not have thought of. In this post I’d like to share a few...
Grandma’s Earrings for Mother’s Day

Grandma’s Earrings for Mother’s Day

I’m very blessed to be able to celebrate Mother’s Day with my mom and son, but I can’t help but remember my beloved grandma who I miss dearly.  I’m honoring her by wearing a pair of her vintage earrings, given to me by my mom after she passed away.  I knew I would be able to modernize them later.  Wearing something of hers always keeps her near and dear to my heart. My sweet grandma was so classy, stylish, and a bit of a hoarder who loved fashion.  Who wouldn’t want to raid her closet?  She was a petite and feisty lady who was strong-willed yet gentle in so many ways, and extremely loving towards everyone. Every weekend while growing up, I tagged along with my mom and grandma who loved antique shops and thrifting.  This was how my love for vintage first began.  My grandfather chauffeured us around all the time, and I couldn’t help but wonder whether we got on his nerves.  Amazingly he never seemed agitated, always smiled and rarely complained. Some of the most prized pieces in my wardrobe, which I wear time and time again came from my grandma’s closet.  Not only are they pieces I love, they have an added bonus of sentimental value that is quite frankly irreplaceable.  Her pieces are typically an excellent conversation starter, which ultimately leads to being able to brag about her stellar fashion sense. Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mother’s in the world.  Wishing you all the love and happiness you so richly deserve! Photo credits:  Em Grey Photography Love, The Ultimate...
