Another FLY Cape
Hey Friday Loves! Today on my blog I’m featuring another FLY cape, and this ensemble includes multiple layers of warmth. The trick to pulling together this look is in the layering and color scheme. I wore a light weight yellow sweater as a base layer. Base layers are essential to keeping you warm. The fabric of the sweater is not only soft and comfortable against my skin, but breathes so I won’t get overly hot. Next I added a tuxedo vest for the fashion layer. I chose a vest so the color of the sweater could still show, as well as not create bulk. The next layer and focal point of the entire look is this lovely cape as the outer layer. The cape provides the overall warmth and style, but does not weigh me down like an oversized coat would. Next is my topper, which consists of a fedora hat. I love fedora hats because in my opinion they’re one of the most badass types of hats there are. They simply add fierceness to any outfit. Toppers in general are very important because they top off an entire look, and add another layer of warmth. Last but not least to complete this layered look, I added plaid leggings which adds the cohesiveness between the sweater, vest and cape. Wanna Be Tartan Somethin’
Happy Monday Loves! I can’t believe it’s almost the end of January and sadly my Cape series is coming to an end. I’ve had so much fun sharing various ways to wear capes this season. I truly hope you’ve been inspired by at least one of the outfits I’ve shared. Since many of the capes I’ve shared so far have been a bit formal, today’s post provides a twist on a vintage tartan plaid wool cape that’s more casual. I decided to pair my cape with flared jeans. While this mod look is fun, it’s still elegant and chic. Yes, jeans can be chic! An outfit like this can easily be worn on a casual day out with friends. If you don’t wear heels, you can wear low-mid heel ankle boots or even flats. Theres so many reasons to add a cape to your wardrobe. They’re the perfect transitional piece that you can rock over just about anything. I also love how flattering they are to all body types. If you don’t own one already, I recommend getting your hands on one ASAP. I promise you’ll enjoy it for many years to come! The Boss Lady
Hey Loves, I hope everyone enjoyed a fabulous long weekend, and had a chance to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. yesterday! I had a nice long weekend relaxing at the beach. Since most people are back to work today I’m providing style inspiration for a cape that’s befitting for the office. I’m going to take a break from my Cape series and just scream “I’m seriously in love with this long sleeve tunic from The Flourish Market!!!” After seeing at it, can you blame me? The colors in the tunic are rich and vibrant, and make me happy every time I wear it. The Hollywood Glamour Girl
Happy Monday Beauties! If you experienced snow over the weekend I hope you’re staying warm and enjoying it. Today I’m continuing my Cape series with a head to toe winter white ensemble, topped off with a glamorous floral print cape. I think it’s the perfect time to brighten up our wardrobes in this dreary weather. If you’re still stuck on the fashion rule of not wearing white after Labor Day, please throw that old idea out of the window! The New Zorro
Last week I started my Cape series where I’m featuring various capes through the end of January. My goal is to provide style inspiration on ways to wear capes. Although some people think of capes as a trend, I don’t view them that way as I wear them all the time. Today’s feature is yet another vintage cape which I paired with modern over-the-knee boots and a wide-brimmed felt hat, giving this look a rebellious edge. This casual look is one of my favorites for fall and winter. Just a basic black cape, leggings, and boots make it easy to recreate. With a cape like this the possibilities are endless, and this can go casual or into the evening if you would like. Ringing In The New Year With Bells
Hey Loves! I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to this new year. I rang in the New Year with bell sleeves! Statement sleeves make such an impact. Since they are the focus, there’s no need to go overboard by pairing them with anything else that will compete. I styled this bell sleeve turtleneck with a long suede pencil skirt, making it the perfect casual look for new years day spent with family, watching football and eating a traditional new years meal. This trend is sure to turn heads and is appropriate for any age. I’m so excited to start my cape series today, where I’ll be featuring style inspiration for capes until the end of January! I’ll be showing how capes can transform your looks and elevate your wardrobe. Here’s a fantastic example of how a vintage leopard cape adds elegance to a vintage red dress. Keep It Simple Holiday Party Look
Merry Christmas Eve Loves! While it’s tempting to want to bust out the sparkle for holiday parties, realistically it’s not always feasible or economical to buy an entirely new outfit for each and every event. Why not shop your closet and create an elegant but simple look for a holiday dinner party? Today I’m featuring a holiday party outfit that can be pulled together with some pieces you probably already own. This look was pulled together with pieces I already owned. The trick is sticking to a festive color scheme, and while it’s not required, it certainly doesn’t hurt to throw a little sparkle in the details. One of the great benefits of this exercise is that these pieces can be used all year round, opposed to just a few times a year. I highly recommend this because it helps to maximize your wardrobe.
