The things we do for food! Recapping the Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo

Raleigh has been experiencing record high temperatures for the past week or so, and last Saturday was no exception.  Two girlfriends and I decided to brave the heat and head downtown to the Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo on Fayetteville Street, like the rest of the 1,000 people who usually attend.  Though the scorching temperatures spared us no mercy, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. If you live in the Triangle, but haven’t heard of the local Food Truck Rodeo’s by now, you either aren’t a foodie, or must be living under a rock.  Last Saturday’s event had over 50 trucks across the State of NC come to take part in the festivities. It was my first time attending a rodeo, and the hardest decision was choosing which truck for my main meal.  After walking around to view all of my options, I decided on a truck called Dank Burrito, which is based in Morehead-City, NC.  All I can say is I’m SO glad I did.  The Teriyaki Shrimp Soft Taco’s with mushrooms, zucchini, and yum yum sauce was absolutely phenomenal!   I can see why Dank Burrito earned it’s title of 2014 Mobile Cuisine Rookie Food Truck of the Year.  Read all about that here:  News and Observer If you haven’t had a chance to check out the Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo, there’s two more opportunities to do so this year on August 10 from 3:30 pm until 9 pm and October 12 from 12:30 pm until 6 pm.   I certainly plan on attending again since there are several trucks I was dying to try but didn’t have a chance. Hopefully...

Let the Races Begin! VIR and MotoAmerica Road Racing Series Here I Come and Ticket Giveaway

I’m ready for a fun, short getaway trip this weekend!  As I searched for local things to do, I stumbled upon hearing about the third round of the MotoAmerica Road Racing Series being hosted at the VIRginia International Raceway in Danville, VA from May 15-17.  MotoAmerica is a professional racing series created in 2014, and sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and the Federation of International Motorcycling (FIM) North America. This event is perfect for what I was looking for and convenient for my needs of a day trip and mini vacation.  It’s a family friendly environment, and only one hour away from the Raleigh area.  The MotoAmerica event will include two full days of racing – a double-header event for the Superbike, Superstock 1000, Supersport and Superstock 600 classes, plus other support races.   I’ve always been an huge motorcycle racing fan, but never had an opportunity to experience seeing a live race.  To know there will be Superbikes racing at speeds of nearly 200 mph on a world-class race track such as VIR excites me to no end!  Also VIR is ranked as one of the top tracks in the world by numerous racing publications. In my research I also discovered that VIR is actually a full vacation destination itself.  It boosts everything for a fun-filled action packed getaway such as full hotel, shooting sports, a spa, restaurants, off roading, golf cart team activities, skid pad and more in a beautiful country setting.  I’m definitely planning on taking advantage of the wonderful amenities.  Motorcycle racing and a spa!  What more could a girl ask for? Now...
