New Awlins Style

Hello again World!I know, I know, it’s been a minute since my last blog post, and I’m REALLY, REALLY sorry for my long absence. So much has happened since the beginning of the year… some great things, and unfortunately some not so great things, but God is good and all is finally getting back to normal in my life. 🙂 One of the wonderful things I managed to do recently is go on a short US trip which has been on my bucket list forever! If you don’t already know, fashion is my forte, but I’m also somewhat of a foodie. LOL!! What better place to go indulge than New Orleans? A few weeks ago one of my best girlfriends and I decided to head to The Big Easy for a Girls Trip, and boy did we have the time of our lives. Just a fair warning ahead that this is the first of two blog posts because I simply couldn’t sum up such a great trip into one.

We arrived in town on a Thursday and the weather was perfect! The Royal St. Charles Hotel greeted us with a slushy drink and small bite of traditional king cake upon arrival which was a pleasant surprise. We got very lucky when we chose the hotel because of it’s ideal location and easy access to The French Quarter. Being only one block away allowed us to be able to enjoy all of the surroundings essentially by foot. After checking in we immediately began our hunt for some southern cajun, creole, seafood, and of course award winning local joints to satisfy our cravings.

We decided to explore the city by riding an old trolly car. I was extremely surprised by how manual it is, and I’ve gained a new respect for the drivers.
We ate at Felix Oyster Bar and I highly recommend it if you like grilled oysters. Among our other top favorite places was Daisy Dukes for their breakfast, Po Boys and Bloody Mary’s.
Jack Rose was EVERYTHING for the inside decor, courtyard ambiance, drinks and dessert. This is now one of my FAVORITE new places in the whole wide world!! 🙂
I’m already planning a trip back because I loved it so much!
I looked up and to my surprise a beautiful chandelier! This restaurant is so quaint and classy! Who wouldn’t love it?
Girlfriends enjoying afternoon cocktails and dessert, and yes we ate it before dinner. Don’t judge us. Life isn’t promised!
I couldn’t get enough of their signature drink called “The Jack Rose”. I almost didn’t want to drink it because of the beautiful rose. OK it sounds good, but NOT! LOL!
We loved stumbling upon so many cool murals.
Such a fun city! I love how carefree and happy everyone is. The older I get makes me seriously rethink about moving to a more fun place like this.
Although we never discovered where to buy these fishbowl drinks, they looked so tempting to try to find.

All in all we had a great first few days in New Orleans. I can’t wait to tell you about the rest of our trip which includes a tour of the city and the fourth ward, shopping, and of course MORE GOOD FOOD! :-). If you’ve visited New Orleans before I’d love to hear about some of your favorite spots in the comments. Until next time…

Love,
