Style Risk-Taker

Style Risk-Taker

It was time to change it up, because I’m a style risk-taker! Being a style risk-taker is no different from the weather.  Not only is it unpredictable, but it shows a new perspective every day.  We’ve been experiencing extreme weather fluctuations in my area for the past few months.  On cooler casual days like now, this fabulous light grey high low drawstring hooded sweatshirt by Romwe has been my saving grace.  I love how warm and comfortable, yet chic it is!   Photography by:  Sharon Bui What I Am Wearing: // Light Grey Drop Shoulder High Low Drawstring Hooded Sweatshirt // Romwe // Khaki Skirt //  DKNY (Similar here) // Denim OTK Boots // Ego Shoes   Love, The Ultimate Fashionista “The beauty of inspiration is its unpredictable timing.”  – T.F....
Old Hollywood Glamour at The Oscars

Old Hollywood Glamour at The Oscars

Hey my fabulous Loves, Is anyone else as excited as I am about this weekend?  Not only is the weather going to be great, but it’s the weekend for the Oscars!  The night that fashion enthusiasts everywhere patiently wait for.   For some, the Oscars are all about the awards, but for others like myself, it’s all about the fashion.  Don’t get me wrong, I can only imagine how remarkable it would be to win an Oscar, but slaying that red carpet in my favorite fashion designer’s gown created specifically for me, would be just as phenomenal! I love today’s modern style dresses but I truly miss the days of seeing old Hollywood glamour, so for this blog post I thought I’d have some fun and channel an old Hollywood glamour look I’d grace on the Oscars red carpet. When I think about portraying glamour, one of the things that first come to mind is feathers.  This vintage V-Neck ostrich feather cuff maxi dress is classic.  The feathers forming the cuffs are wonderful, dramatic and breezy.  I added a simple rhinestone studded choker to top off the look.  Sparkle and glitz is beautiful and eye-catching, but don’t underestimate how a simple and classic look can be equally as stunning. This is the last hurrah!  I can’t wait to see who will take home this years honor of being best-dressed at the Oscars! Celebrating friendship at the sweetest Galentine’s Party

Celebrating friendship at the sweetest Galentine’s Party

Last week I celebrated friendship at the sweetest Galentine’s Party at Babylon Restaurant.  The event was spearheaded by blogger babes Angela Keeley-White of Head to Toe Chic and Meghan Grant of I’m Fixin To Blog, who did an amazing job putting everything together.  They definitely know how to throw a great party! In attendance from left to right was Courtney Marshall of Courtney Fashionista, Tiffany and Lindsey of Baubles and Backdrops, Angela Keeley-White of Head to Toe Chic, Meghan Grant of I’m Fixin To Blog, me, Stephanie Emory of A Style Of Her Own, Carlone Barbee of The Barbee Housewife, and Molly Stillman of Still Being Molly. It was my first time at Babylon Restaurant, which is located in beautiful downtown Raleigh, NC, and the atmosphere was absolutely breathtaking!  Upon arrival I was taken back by the interior design which is overall romantic, and couldn’t take my eyes off of the hand-painted ceiling and ornate tiles. As you can see, the space was beautifully decorated with gorgeous floral arrangements, bubbly drinks, and the cutest cookies from Bailey Lane Bakery.  These cookies just melted in my mouth, and I couldn’t resist going back for a second one.  Babylon really rolled out the red carpet for us in terms of service, and I really enjoyed the flavorful menu from Morocco. All in all this holiday was a beautiful celebration of lady friends.  Each of these ladies inspire me, and I’m so blessed to know them! Made In Italy

Made In Italy

Hello my Loves, It’s no secret that Italy is home to the world’s most famous fashion designers and labels.  The fashion from that region has always been one of my absolute favorites because it’s undoubtedly one of the finest in the world! During my visit to Italy last fall, I noticed that Italian women take great pride in their personal appearance and putting themselves together.  I’ve always admired them and think there’s a lot to be learned from having their mentality.  Visiting Italy was definitely a life changing experience for many reasons.  Not only did I get a chance to visit some of the most amazing places I’ve always read about, but I experienced the culture, which still resonates in my mind today. Right after viewing the Fontana Di Trevi we went on a small shopping spree and stopped at a cute boutique called Moskito Roma.  It was there that I spotted this darling circle vest.  The vibrant color immediately caught my attention, but as I looked closer at the raised floral texture, I knew she was coming back home with mama! 🙂 When I decided to style this vest, I couldn’t pair it with any ordinary thing, so I chose a leather mini, fish net pantyhose, and these flirty peep-toe over-the-knee boots, which combined make the ultimate statement.  Do you think I did the vest justice? If you ever have an opportunity to visit Italy, you’re in for a huge treat.  I can’t wait to go back! The Queen of Style

The Queen of Style

Hello Lovelies, As you may know I’m wrapping up my Cape series where I provided style inspiration for capes throughout the entire month of January, and this is my final look.  I had so much fun putting all of the outfits together, and varying styles in an attempt to appeal to the masses.  The bar has been set high, and no ordinary cape last cape would do.  It’s only right to end the month with a bang, so I saved my best cape for last. I felt like a Queen in this long, dramatic black cape with ruffle trim!  The vintage God’s blessed me with this gorgeous Bonwit Teller last year.  Bonwit Teller & Co. was one of a group of upscale department stores on Fifth Avenue in New York City founded by Paul Bonwit in 1895, that catered to the “carriage trade”.  From my research the retailer was the grand dame of haute couture!  The store’s demise started with the loss of their Fifth Avenue store, and was later demolished to build Trump Tower.  Although I was saddened to discover the background on how Bonwit Teller stores closed, it makes me cherish this cape even more knowing it’s a part of American history. This cape has a medieval look, but I softened it by pairing it with a knee length a-line silk skirt and elegant bow heels.  Here are a few capes that you can achieve a similar look with (here and here), and of course additional outfit details are below. Thank you so much for following me along this journey, and showering me with love by commenting,...
