Recap of the Nora and Nicky’s Fashion Show benefiting the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation

My weekend was GRAND!  I attended the Nora and Nicky’s Fashion Show in downtown Raleigh, NC on Friday benefiting the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation.  Nora and Nicky’s is an upscale consignment boutique, founded in 2010, with two local stores in Raleigh.  I fell in love with this boutique a few years ago when I discovered it while looking for a high quality store to consign with.  Their philosophy reads “We believe in the power of women, community and sustainability.  We believe in “Live Local, Think Global.”  How cool is that?   Nothing makes me happier than businesses that not only care about local communities, but also care about the world. Before the fashion show I knew very little about the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation, but once I took some time to research, I knew there was no way I could miss supporting this event because of its mission.  The Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation is focused on creating a network of active, diverse, empowering and motivating emerging leaders and community-based organizations to lift up their communities and work on the issues such as poverty, food justice, hunger, and public education.  The network is then equipped to do good in the community. You can learn more here Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation. I had such a wonderful time meeting new people, shopping and seeing the fashion show.  To know it was for a wonderful benefit made it even more special!  Be sure to stop by and visit one of the Nora and Nicky’s locations.  Whether you consign or not, you will be sure to love the customer service, and find something unique. Grandma’s Earrings for Mother’s Day

Grandma’s Earrings for Mother’s Day

I’m very blessed to be able to celebrate Mother’s Day with my mom and son, but I can’t help but remember my beloved grandma who I miss dearly.  I’m honoring her by wearing a pair of her vintage earrings, given to me by my mom after she passed away.  I knew I would be able to modernize them later.  Wearing something of hers always keeps her near and dear to my heart. My sweet grandma was so classy, stylish, and a bit of a hoarder who loved fashion.  Who wouldn’t want to raid her closet?  She was a petite and feisty lady who was strong-willed yet gentle in so many ways, and extremely loving towards everyone. Every weekend while growing up, I tagged along with my mom and grandma who loved antique shops and thrifting.  This was how my love for vintage first began.  My grandfather chauffeured us around all the time, and I couldn’t help but wonder whether we got on his nerves.  Amazingly he never seemed agitated, always smiled and rarely complained. Some of the most prized pieces in my wardrobe, which I wear time and time again came from my grandma’s closet.  Not only are they pieces I love, they have an added bonus of sentimental value that is quite frankly irreplaceable.  Her pieces are typically an excellent conversation starter, which ultimately leads to being able to brag about her stellar fashion sense. Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mother’s in the world.  Wishing you all the love and happiness you so richly deserve! Photo credits:  Em Grey Photography Love, The Ultimate...
