Made In Italy

Made In Italy

Hello my Loves, It’s no secret that Italy is home to the world’s most famous fashion designers and labels.  The fashion from that region has always been one of my absolute favorites because it’s undoubtedly one of the finest in the world! During my visit to Italy last fall, I noticed that Italian women take great pride in their personal appearance and putting themselves together.  I’ve always admired them and think there’s a lot to be learned from having their mentality.  Visiting Italy was definitely a life changing experience for many reasons.  Not only did I get a chance to visit some of the most amazing places I’ve always read about, but I experienced the culture, which still resonates in my mind today. Right after viewing the Fontana Di Trevi we went on a small shopping spree and stopped at a cute boutique called Moskito Roma.  It was there that I spotted this darling circle vest.  The vibrant color immediately caught my attention, but as I looked closer at the raised floral texture, I knew she was coming back home with mama! 🙂 When I decided to style this vest, I couldn’t pair it with any ordinary thing, so I chose a leather mini, fish net pantyhose, and these flirty peep-toe over-the-knee boots, which combined make the ultimate statement.  Do you think I did the vest justice? If you ever have an opportunity to visit Italy, you’re in for a huge treat.  I can’t wait to go back! The Queen of Style

The Queen of Style

Hello Lovelies, As you may know I’m wrapping up my Cape series where I provided style inspiration for capes throughout the entire month of January, and this is my final look.  I had so much fun putting all of the outfits together, and varying styles in an attempt to appeal to the masses.  The bar has been set high, and no ordinary cape last cape would do.  It’s only right to end the month with a bang, so I saved my best cape for last. I felt like a Queen in this long, dramatic black cape with ruffle trim!  The vintage God’s blessed me with this gorgeous Bonwit Teller last year.  Bonwit Teller & Co. was one of a group of upscale department stores on Fifth Avenue in New York City founded by Paul Bonwit in 1895, that catered to the “carriage trade”.  From my research the retailer was the grand dame of haute couture!  The store’s demise started with the loss of their Fifth Avenue store, and was later demolished to build Trump Tower.  Although I was saddened to discover the background on how Bonwit Teller stores closed, it makes me cherish this cape even more knowing it’s a part of American history. This cape has a medieval look, but I softened it by pairing it with a knee length a-line silk skirt and elegant bow heels.  Here are a few capes that you can achieve a similar look with (here and here), and of course additional outfit details are below. Thank you so much for following me along this journey, and showering me with love by commenting,...
Another FLY Cape

Another FLY Cape

Hey Friday Loves! Today on my blog I’m featuring another FLY cape, and this ensemble includes multiple layers of warmth. The trick to pulling together this look is in the layering and color scheme.  I wore a light weight yellow sweater as a base layer.  Base layers are essential to keeping you warm.  The fabric of the sweater is not only soft and comfortable against my skin, but breathes so I won’t get overly hot. Next I added a tuxedo vest for the fashion layer.  I chose a vest so the color of the sweater could still show, as well as not create bulk. The next layer and focal point of the entire look is this lovely cape as the outer layer.  The cape provides the overall warmth and style, but does not weigh me down like an oversized coat would. Next is my topper, which consists of a fedora hat.  I love fedora hats because in my opinion they’re one of the most badass types of hats there are.  They simply add fierceness to any outfit.  Toppers in general are very important because they top off an entire look, and add another layer of warmth. Last but not least to complete this layered look, I added plaid leggings which adds the cohesiveness between the sweater, vest and cape. I really hope you’ve enjoyed this cape series, and I’m a little saddened it’s coming to an end.  The good news is I LOVE CAPES so it NEVER truly ends!  I’ve received so much positive feedback on this series that I’ll continue to style capes and provide inspiration throughout the...
Wanna Be Tartan Somethin’

Wanna Be Tartan Somethin’

Happy Monday Loves! I can’t believe it’s almost the end of January and sadly my Cape series is coming to an end.  I’ve had so much fun sharing various ways to wear capes this season.  I truly hope you’ve been inspired by at least one of the outfits I’ve shared.  Since many of the capes I’ve shared so far have been a bit formal, today’s post provides a twist on a vintage tartan plaid wool cape that’s more casual. I decided to pair my cape with flared jeans.  While this mod look is fun, it’s still elegant and chic.  Yes, jeans can be chic!  An outfit like this can easily be worn on a casual day out with friends.  If you don’t wear heels, you can wear low-mid heel ankle boots or even flats. Theres so many reasons to add a cape to your wardrobe.  They’re the perfect transitional piece that you can rock over just about anything.  I also love how flattering they are to all body types.  If you don’t own one already, I recommend getting your hands on one ASAP.  I promise you’ll enjoy it for many years to come! The Boss Lady

The Boss Lady

Hey Loves, I hope everyone enjoyed a fabulous long weekend, and had a chance to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. yesterday!  I had a nice long weekend relaxing at the beach.  Since most people are back to work today I’m providing style inspiration for a cape that’s befitting for the office. The dramatic silhouette of a cape is designed with everyday wearability making this a fun and essential piece to own.  Capes are elegant and really are very versatile.  I wore this warm layer over a crisp white shirt and trousers, but this stylish piece can also be paired with almost any outfit including your go-to weekend denim.  The flexibility of capes make them an indispensable staple to your wardrobe you can wear again and again.   Photography by:  Em Grey Photography What I Am Wearing: //Wool Houndstooth Cape// Vintage //Trousers// Carmen Marc Valvo //Tartan Pumps// Tellen (To receive a New Member Exclusive offer to Buy 1 Get 1 Free – 2 Styles for $39.95, use my special link here – JustFab) //Handbag// Vintage   Shop This Look: JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser.
