Styling and Profiling! Why not?

Styling and Profiling! Why not?

There’s nothing wrong with having self-confidence if you look nice, feel like you have it together, and know it. I don’t believe clothes make the person.  I believe clothes should enhance the person…. but have you ever wondered what other people see when they look at you, or wondered how your profile looks to them from all angles?  How would you know if you don’t have a full-length view of your entire ensemble?  This is simple, but not always obvious. As a personal stylist, I frequently work with clients who have no full length mirror.  While an outfit may look appealing in the front, it may not always be the case in the back, and vise versa. It’s best to be able to judge an outfit in its entirety, instead of hoping the top half works with the bottom half.   A full length mirror is an easy fix that could eliminate wardrobe malfunctions not easily seen, plus provide a way to see your full silhouette.  I consider it a must have for everyone. Spring Forward!

Spring Forward!

That’s it!  I’ve officially divorced winter! I can no longer take the dark colors, closed toe shoes, coats, beanies, or umbrellas.  Today is officially the first day of spring, therefore it’s time to bring out the bright new colors!  This past winter was harsh, so I’m embracing the change in season.  Today’s outfit post is me declaring a closet edit, putting away my winter gear, swapping out my boots for sandals, and never looking back. This outfit was built around the shoes I purchased from ShoeDazzle about a month ago in anticipation of this day.  If you’re a shoe lover but aren’t a ShoeDazzle customer, you’re missing out BIG TIME!  Not only do I find myself drooling over the styles, the prices are extremely reasonable, and the sales are phenomenal. My new spring fling is the color combination blue and yellow.  Lately I’ve been obsessing over it.  It’s like a breath of fresh air.  Although I love the color blue, I actually don’t wear it much, so it’s a different look for me. What do you think?  When was the last time you stepped out of your comfort zone?  Spring is the perfect time!   Sunglasses:  Old, Similar here: http://www.wildfox.com/wildfox-sun-lolita-frame Shirt: Forever21 Pants: JCrew Shoes: Loyita,  http://www.shoedazzle.com/products/LOYITA-105-000194-0100 Purse: Old gift Jewelry:  Africa (Senegal)   Have a great weekend and Happy Spring! 🙂 Love, The Ultimate...
Fringe Benefits!

Fringe Benefits!

If you haven’t noticed by now, one of the hottest come back trends is fringe.  We started seeing it this past fall, and will continue to see it throughout the spring.  I love it!  Not only is it fun and flirty, it’s also sexy 🙂 There are so many different ways to incorporate fringe into your wardrobe.  There’s shoes, handbags, jewelry and clothes, but if you’re like me, you don’t follow all the trends and only partake every now and then.  This was just too cute not to join the fun, so here’s one idea on how you can wear a fringe top. There are several YouTube How-To videos on making these tops from old t-shirts, and it’s fairly easy.   As you can see,  I simply played around with the fringes and tied a knot to create a sassy and fun look, and Voilà!   I hope you have a blast wearing your fringe!  The outfit details are below. Orange is the New Black

Orange is the New Black

I can honestly say out of all the colors I typically wear, this bold bright orange dress was only one of a few orange garments in my closet.  There used to be such a negative association attached to wearing orange and black, which I’m sure is from Halloween.  Think about it!  No one wants to walk around looking like a big ole pumpkin. Over the past few years, orange exploded on the fashion scene and became more popular due to two major reasons.  The first is because of the Orange is the New Black Netflix original series based on the book of the same title.  The ratings generated more viewers in its first week than any other Netflix original series, and the catchy title is what caused orange to be first looked at from a fashion standpoint. Orange then made its debut and ruled the runways at New York Fashion week Spring 2014, and has been popular ever since.  I think it’s here to stay! Are you a fan or orange?  Have you tried introducing anything orange into your wardrobe?  I would love to read your comments below. Ladylike: Modern Art Deco Style

Ladylike: Modern Art Deco Style

Happy Monday! For today’s style inspiration, I’m bringing back the classic Art Deco style with a modern-day twist. The Art Deco style started in the early 1920’s and lasted until right before World War II.  During that time, there was a sense of excitement and expectancy with anticipation of a future filled with promise.  The women’s liberation movement, a prosperous economy, and key improvements in technology were attributes that led to progressive modernity, luxury and leisure – all of which was a new way of life.  The fashion during that time was simply gorgeous! I’m wearing a dramatic asymmetrical winter white cloche hat, adorned with feathers and diamonds, which I paired with a luxurious yellow cape stole wrap.  Both pieces are typical of the Art Deco style.  The cape stole wrap is usually worn over a party dress or ball gown, but for a more up to date look I kept with the same color scheme and paired it with a pencil skirt. It just goes to show you can create a modern look with a little vintage flair.   I hope it inspires you to bring back pieces from the past and incorporate them into your wardrobe today.   Here are the outfit details.
