Give Me My Flowers

Give Me My Flowers

“Give me my flowers while I can still smell them” is what first came to mind when I saw this beautiful floral mural.  I don’t know how long this quote has been around, it still holds true today.  We should always strive to show people how much they mean to us while we can. On another note, it’s my birthday month and I’m strutting into the next year just as happy as I can be! Getting older is such a privilege, and I never take that for granted.  This floral mural was perfect the perfect backdrop for this vintage style monochrome outfit.  I’ve always been a huge fan of black and white because it’s so eye-catching, classy and timeless.  Since some of these pieces are vintage, I’ve found some similar pieces to recreate this look.  I hope you enjoy this post darlings!  If you do, please leave me a comment letting me know how so. Until next time, Muah! Luxury shopping at affordable prices

Luxury shopping at affordable prices

Happy Friday everyone, Who else besides me loves to find high end quality items at affordable prices?  As a Fashion Stylist and Blogger I get asked all the time where I shop, and it’s no secret that it’s everywhere!  Today I’m sharing one of my absolute favorite places to shop in North Carolina, where I constantly find luxury items for amazingly great prices. Have you heard of National Pawn?  If not you’re in for a treat! I had the wonderful opportunity to go on a mini shopping spree at their Fleetwood Drive store in Raleigh, North Carolina earlier this week.  This location is one of sixteen stores in the state, and is one of their larger stores in the Triangle.  As usual I browsed around for a short time, but it didn’t take long to spot several items I wanted to purchase. One of the things I love about shopping at National Pawn is they literally have everything!  You never know what you’re going to find.  They specialize in luxury brands, and in that regard are much more like a high end consignment shop rather than a pawn shop.  From designer jewelry, designer handbags, electronics, to home items, they are absolutely your one stop shop for high quality items.  The best part about it is they have layaway, which makes purchasing big ticket items a breeze. Secondly, the staff is always so nice and helpful.  They don’t hover over you while shopping and genuinely want to make sure you’re happy with your purchases.  Naomi assisted me with the purchase of my David Yurman silver bracelet, which was the perfect...
Recapping the 15th Annual African American Cultural Celebration

Recapping the 15th Annual African American Cultural Celebration

I can’t believe it’s nearly the middle of February!  Where has the month gone? Right before the month began, I kicked off Black History Month by attending the 15th Annual African American Cultural Celebration on January 30th.  This free event was held at the NC Museum of History in downtown Raleigh, and this years theme was Civil Rights—March On!. Although I’ve been a Raleigh native for 19 years, this was my first year attending.  With over 75 musicians, storytellers, dancers, authors, artists, chefs, and more, it was sure to be an exciting day. One of the true highlights of my day was visiting the “Made Especially For You By Willie Kay” exhibit.  Willie Otey Kay was queen of Raleigh fashion for decades, who surpassed racial boundaries to create a successful business.  I learned so much about this stylist who had been designing and making dresses for brides, proms and debutantes from all over the State.  It was such a treat to see her handcrafted dresses up close.  Read more about her story here: NC Museum of History and The News & Observer In summary, this event was extremely fun and educational for the entire family.  It was a perfect start to Black History Month and phenomenal way to celebrate African American heritage and culture.  I’m already looking forward to next year’s event! Recapping the Royalty, Rock Stars and Artists Party at Saks Fifth Avenue Raleigh

Recapping the Royalty, Rock Stars and Artists Party at Saks Fifth Avenue Raleigh

Happy Monday Guys! There’s only one word to describe my last Saturday afternoon, and that’s EPIC!  Bear with me because there are lots of pictures in this post… I was invited to attend the Royalty, Rock Stars and Artists Party at Saks Fifth Avenue in Raleigh, NC.  This fashion show featured all the new contemporary fashion trends for the spring from top designers such as Alice+Olivia, Rebecca Taylor, and BCBG.  I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun I had.  There was a DJ playing the latest upbeat music, which made you want to hit the dance floor.  Then there were cocktails – Oooh the cocktails! There were three different flavors of champagne to choose from depending on your mood, and delicious mouth-watering french macarons also in three flavors.  I wanted to park a permanent seat at the cocktail area, but didn’t want to miss the show.   As promised here are a few behind the scene photos of the clothing for the show. I highly recommend paying Saks a visit to see the new spring fashion trends up close.  You’ll be sure to find something you absolutely love there! Love, The Ultimate Fashionista...
