On The Cutting Edge

On The Cutting Edge

Sometimes you just gotta step out of the box y’all! Do you feel like your style needs a face lift or would you like a new look?  If so, I challenge you to step up your style and dress “On The Cutting Edge”.  Keep reading as I am providing some major tips to help you on your way to a new you. Many people routinely wear the same thing knowing they have a closet full of clothes.  They are either lackadaisical or afraid to try a new look.  I have a few tips to get you out of your comfort zone, and into using your complete wardrobe. Tip #1.  Think outside the box One idea to help you think outside the box is to think of yourself as a blank canvas.  Every day is an opportunity to be artistic and create your personal style.  When you first wake up, remind yourself about how great of a day you want to have, and part of that means looking your best.  Don’t settle for looking boring as if you didn’t put any thought into it.  If this is too difficult of a task to do in the morning by all means, select your outfit the night before. Tip #2. No more rules Long gone are the days when people should ever consider abiding by fashion rules such as no white after labor day, handbags must match shoes, no mixing black and blue, no pattern mixing, no sequins during the day, etc.  I could go on and on, but I get a headache just thinking about these silly myths that someone (Lord...
Tropical Print Palazzo Party

Tropical Print Palazzo Party

Party over here!  Take a look at my favorite palazzo pants for summer.  These haute island-ready pants feature a bold tropical floral print with a wide leg.  Although I don’t live in a tropical climate, every time I wear these pants they make me feel like I need to be in the Caribbean vacationing in a warmer climate. They are perfect for getting me in a relaxed mode. For this casual look, I paired them with a sweet little girly white top, studded strappy sandals, and a vintage straw bag.  Photography by:  Em Grey Photography   Here are the deets and hope you all enjoy your weekend! // Palazzo Pants (Dalia Collection) // // Top (Free People) // // Shoes (Kamryn by ShoeDazzle) // // Wicker Handbag (Monsac Original)// // Make up (Reveal Cosmetics) //   Love, The Ultimate Fashionista...
Aztec Alert

Aztec Alert

I’ve fallen in love with this Aztec print skirt because of its horizontal lines, graphic shapes, designs and colors.  Aztec print, which is often confused with African print, originated in Mexico and has a long history of influences by various tribes.  Most often I’ve seen these prints primarily in leggings, but seldom skirts. As you can see, Aztec prints can be so easy to style.  All you have to do is pair them with a single colored top to keep your outfit simple yet classy.   The detail on the back of the top and shoes add a little more lines without being overbearing.  I would precaution against adding other tribal themed or printed items into your outfit as they can make you look overly South American. This skirt has a bohemian dressy feel and would be perfect to spice up a dinner date or social meeting.   // Bell sleeve top (old) // // Aztec Skirt (Express) // // Shoes (Ellery by ShoeDazzle) // // Leather Handbag (Sorial)// // Make up (Reveal Cosmetics) // Photography by:  Em Grey Photography Love, The Ultimate...
Citified

Citified

I’m a southern gal at heart, but every now and then I like to get citified!  The suburbs have so much to offer; however, there are a lot of days when I just miss the big city life.  Having lived in the DMV for over 10 years has made me diverse in my taste for food and fashion.  On the days when I’m home sick, I make it a point to head straight downtown to get my city fix. What I miss the most with living in the city is seeing more urban street style dressing.  When I headed downtown, I wore cut off shorts and a leopard tank but needed a little something more to complete the look.  I ended up putting on a long crochet vintage duster, which was perfect for walking around the city to grab a small bite or coffee with friends. The duster was didn’t cover up my look, and allowed me to stay cool while adding a fun piece to pull the look together. // Leopard Tank (Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger) // // Shorts (old) // // Tie-up Suede Sandals (Paco Gil) // // Bohemian Crochet Vintage Duster (Amazon)// // Make up (Reveal Cosmetics) // Photography by:  Em Grey Photography Love, The Ultimate Fashionista...
Go Green!

Go Green!

Hey everyone! I gotta thang for green lately, so I decided to max it out with this green maxi dress shopped from my closet …. I actually found it last year at Marshalls.  It caught my attention because the pattern was unique and colors were captivating to my eye.  I also love the various shades from grass to army green.  Green has always been one of my favorite colors.  It’s the color of life, renewal, nature, energy, growth, harmony, freshness, safety, fertility, and the environment.  It’s no wonder I love it. I’m not sure what my green obsession is all about lately, but I’m going to roll with it 🙂 // Maxi dress (Marshalls) // // Straw Tote (old) // // Gladiator Sandals (Seychelles) // // Reveal Cosmetics (here) // Photography by:  Em Grey Photography Have a great rest of the week!
